New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters on Saturday afternoon that the team would not be picking up the fifth-year option on offensive tackle Evan Neal, John Fennely of Giants Wire reports.
Earlier this week, Schoen said they would be exercising the fifth-year option of the team's other 2022 first round pick, linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Neal was the seventh overall selection out of Alabama, taken two picks after Thibodeaux. He was selected with the first-round pick the Giants received as a result of the draft day trade with the Chicago Bears the year before.
Neal, at 6-foot-7 and 340 pounds, was seen as a solid prospect coming out of college. He was a consensus All-American in 2021.
