Dallas Cowboys defensive end Taco Charlton had a "minor setback" this offseason, Tyler Dragon of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Charlton had a had scope on his ankle. SportsDay's David Moore reported that the defensive end should be ready to go for training camp, but will be sidelined for OTAs and minicamp.

Charlton's ankle surgery is his second procedure of the offseason. He had shoulder surgery in January. The upper body injury was problematic for him last year, keeping him out a few games. He ended the 2018 campaign with 27 tackles and one sack in 11 contests (seven starts).

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones labeled 2019 as a "big year" for Charlton. The pass rusher has underwhelmed since Dallas used its 2017 first-round pick on him.
