Philadelphia Eagles special teams coach Dave Fipps says that veteran DeSean Jackson is a candidate to return punts in 2019 according to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Jackson was an outstanding returner early in his career, scoring four punt return touchdowns over his first three seasons, but he has not been asked to be the primary punt returner for several years.  He is probably the best option currently on the roster but the Eagles will have to decide if they want to add return duties to the workload of a 32-year-old oft-injured receiver who has not played a full 16-game season since 2013.  Jackson's most valuable role (and the reason the Eagles traded for him) is as a deep threar who can open up the field for more conventional weapons like Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz.
