Veteran Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiki Alonso is not a lock to make the final 53-man roster according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Alonso has been sidelined most of the summer with an undisclosed injury. The Dolphins are rebuilding and want players on the defensive side who are versatile and can fill many roles. Alonso just turned 29 last week and carries a massive cap number at over $8.2 million. Miami would clear just $25K in cap space by releasing Alonso, but they'd save $4 million in cash.  His current contract is set to run through 2020.

Sam Eguavoen and Jerome Baker have been working as the Dolphins' starting linebackers under new head coach Brian Flores.
