On Thursday, the Raiders reached agreement on a three-year, $32.5 million contract extension with center JC Tretter who’s anchored the position for the past two seasons, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. The deal, first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, includes more than $23 million guaranteed.

The $10.8 million average places him among the top five highest-paid centers in the NFL.

Tretter, 28, was due to become a free agent after this season. He’s part of a line that’s blocked for Nick Chubb to become the NFL’s fourth-leading rusher this season with 803 yards. The offensive line has come under fire this season, but Tretter is playing some of the best ball of his six-year career.

“We don’t pay too much attention to the narratives and what the spin is on it,'' Tretter said last month. "The numbers are what they are. Sometimes those can be deceiving, too. But I think we as a group try to hold ourselves to a really high standard."
