The University of Georgia has hired former Bucs/Browns offensive coordinator Todd Monken to be their new offensive coordinator according to Mark Schlabach of

He will serve as the chief play-caller of the Bulldogs,  a responsibility previously held by assistant coach James Coley, who will reportedly occupy a "new role" on Georgia's staff. Monken is headed back to the college ranks after spending the past five seasons as a position coach and later offensive coordinator in the NFL.  He became a big of a folk hero for the aerial-obsessed offense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018 and was hired by first-time head coach Freddie Kitchens as the nominal OC with the Browns in 2019, although Kitchens insisted on calling the plays.  That marriage was extremely unsiccessful, as Kitchens and Monken were never on the same page and Monken reported told coaches on opposing teams that the Browns were a "total mess".

New Browns coach Kevin Stefanski chose not to retain the 53-year-old Monken for his 2020 staff.
