The Cleveland Browns are interviewing former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello for their vacant OC job according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Scangarello will meet with the Browns staff on Monday or Tuesday with Cleveland looking to finish off their coaching hires in the near future.    Scangarello was relieved of his duties in Denver after only one season and three quarterbacks.  The Broncos fielded one of the lowest-scoring offenses in the league in 2019 but Scangarello does not deserve all the blame, as he was dealing with the chaotic quarterback situation, a poor offensive line, a lack of receiving weapons agter the team traded WR Emmanuel Sanders at mid-season, and the dictates of old-fashioned head coach Vic Fangio to focus on the run game.

Most of those issues are not present in Cleveland, although there is certainly some chaos.  And some of Scangarello's situational play-calling was questionable, although that is not unusual in a first-time playcaller.  He hails from the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, which could be as hot a commodity in 2020 as Sean McVay connections were in the 2019 offseason given the 49ers success this season.  And he would be working under an offensive-minded head coach in Kevin Stefanski.  It could be an interesting combination.
