The Buffalo Bills added some insurance to their running back room for their postseason run in light of the team’s recent loss of running back Zack Moss, Nick Wojton of USA Today's Bills Wire reports.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, veteran rusher Devonta Freeman has signed with the Bills’ practice squad on Tuesday.

Just on Thursday, Freeman was released from the New York Giants’ injured reserve list. The 28-year-old dealt held out for a better fit after not signing with a team this past offseason and landed in New York after the Giants lost star running back Saquon Barkley for the season in September. Freeman was essentially released last week in case an opportunity such as the one with the Bills came up. He only signed a one-year deal with the Giants and was slated to become a free agent regardless.

Due to hamstring and ankle issues, plus time on the COVID-19 list, Freeman barely made an impact with the Giants. In five games played, he only averaged 3.2 yards per carry.
