The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to use the franchise tag on veteran tight end Evan Engram according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The tight end franchise tag is worth roughly $11.3 million. This would give the Jaguars some measure of certainty at a position where their top three players by snap count last year are all free agents. Engram and the Jaguars have been talking and it's still possible that Engram signs a contract off the franchise tag. Jacksonville can probably afford to carry the tag amount if they have to based on how many players they've restructured already this offseason.

Engram's first year in Jacksonville was a success as the 28-year-old had 73 catches 766 yards and four touchdowns and became a big part of the passing offense down the stretch when the Jags made their successful push to win the AFC South.  Most importantly, he played in all 17 regular season games and the postseason after an injury-plagued five seasons with the Giants.  The former first-round pick has always had the talent to be one of the top tight ends in the league and he has finally found a scheme and coaching staff to suit his skills.
