On Thursday, Shalonda Mixon, sister of Bengals running back Joe Mixon, was named a suspect in the shooting incident at the Bengals star’s home, Bridget Reilly of the New York Post reports. This according to a new police document obtained by TMZ Sports.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office report stated a black Honda Accord was spotted leaving the residence after the shooting late on Monday night.
Police stopped the vehicle to find 34-year-old Shalonda and a 34-year-old man named Lamonte Brewer inside.
Both were identified as suspects in the shooting, which took place earlier this week.
The incident involved neighborhood teens playing NERF wars at Joe Mixon’s home in Anderson Township and his trainer, Sean Pena, dialed 911 upon hearing the shots.
Pena told the operator that he heard five gunshots before several of the teens “sped off” in their cars.
Shelonda told WLWT in Cincinnati that her brother wasn’t involved with the shooting.
According to the document, two participants in the NERF wars game told the police that one of the other players, a 16-year-old boy, ran alongside Mixon’s house holding a “NERF-style toy gun” before “unknown suspects” allegedly fired off 11 rounds, shooting at the boy outside in the NFL player’s backyard.
The teenager was shot in the foot during the incident as he attempted to run away and was sent to the hospital, per the document.
