Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles says he wants second-year running back Rachaad White to be a "three-down back" according to Scott Reynolds of pewterreport.com.

"We talked about him becoming a more complete back," said Bowles. "Taking care of the football, and then with the new offense, I look for him to continue to accelerate and get better in all phases to become a three-down back." The Bucs overhauled their coaching staff this offseason, bringing in Seahawks offensive coordinator Dave Canales to improve their run game, which ranked last in EPA per rush last year.

A third-round pick out of Arizona State in 2022, White had a good but not great rookie season with 481 rushing yards, 290 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in 17 games.  He shared time with veteran Leonard Fournette but was clearly overtaking him by the end of the season.  With Fournette released, , White has a path to massive workloads on a Bucs team that wants to be run heavy. White's 50 catches as a rookie and strong receiving usage in college set him up to play on all three downs in Year 2.
