The Houston Texans have signed veteran linebacker Jermaine Carter to a one-year deal according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.

Originally a fifth-round pick out of Maryland by the Panthers in 2018, Carter spent the 2022 season bouncing between the Browns' practice squad and active roster. He ultimately appeared in seven games, one of which was credited as a start. Carter logged 16 combined tackles while playing a mix of special teams and defense. He will compete for a rotational role in Houson's weak linebacker room while also picking up work on special teams this year.
