The Tennessee Titans tried to sell other teams on Ryan Tannehill this offseason according to Charlie Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

Sitting with the 11th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans weren’t in the strongest of positions to land one of the top three quarterbacks in the class. Yet, depending on who you ask, the Titans already have a capable starting QB on the roster with Ryan Tannehill.  It’s just, how good can the soon-to-be 35-year-old QB be in 2023 after leading the team to just a 6-6 record in 2022? Not to mention, Tannehill is in the final year of his contract and that leaves the Titans with an uncertain future at the position.

It was therefore no surprise when the Titans traded back up to the 33rd pick to take Kentucky's Will Levis.  On top of taking Malik Willis in the third round in 2021, it seems clear that the team does not visualize Tannehill as their future-maybe not even their immediate future.

Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, Robinson said the Titans did not surprise anyone with their move to draft Levis.  The team tried their best to trade Tannehill to any team willing to take on his contract this offseason. Obviously, with Tannehill still on the roster, it didn’t work out.  Tannehill has a 2023 cap hit of $36.6 million, but at this point, having the 11-year-vet likely brings a lot of hidden value for the team’s two young, developing QBs. At this point, it appears the Titans will enter the year with Tannehill under center once again, but his leash may not be very long.
