There is new concern over Carolina Panthers edge rusher Brian Burns after he missed Monday's practice. He also missed practice last Thursday, although it was reportedly for “personal reasons.”
Burns had been a participant in practices throughout training camp saying it was important for him to be with his teammates and prepare for the season.
"No fault to anybody who is not participating,'' Burns said last week, per ESPN. "But we've got something special, and I'm a big part of it, so I can't miss no time. I've just got to be here.''
On Monday coach Frank Reich indicated Burns absence was because of his contract situation.
“I’m not involved in the contract negotiations at all,” Reich said. "I’m just worried about getting my team ready to play Atlanta. Do I hope he is there? Absolutely I hope he is there. If he’s not there, I’m not worried about it. Just move forward.”
Despite not practicing, Burns continued to attend team meetings and refused to answer questions from reporters.
