With right tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker out for the season with an Achilles injury, the Jets on Tuesday worked out tackle La’el Collins, Mark Cannizzaro of The New York Post reports
The Jets, though, have competition for Collins’ services from their MetLife Stadium co-tenants, the Giants.
According to the NFL Network, the Giants, with massive offensive line issues, are also interested.
The Jets lost Vera-Tucker in Sunday’s win over the Broncos in Denver.
The Giants have been without left tackle Andrew Thomas for the past four games because of a hamstring injury.
They, too, were without two other linemen in their loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Collins, a former starter for the Cowboys, began this season on the Bengals’ PUP list and was released in early September, saving some $6 million in salary cap space.
Collins, after starting 15 games for the Bengals last season, suffered a torn ACL in December but has reportedly been cleared to play.
