A busy free-agency period for the Washington Commanders continued Thursday as the team signed cornerback James Pierre, Liam Griffin of the Washington Times reports.
The four-year veteran began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
The Florida Atlantic product appeared in 66 games for Pittsburgh, including six starts. Though he primarily played on special teams, Pierre recorded 59 tackles, three forced fumbles and two interceptions.
The defensive back will add depth to a Commanders secondary in transition. Starting cornerback Kendall Fuller left Washington in free agency to join the Miami Dolphins, while 2023 first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes struggled in his rookie season.
