The Chicago Bears are beefing up the interior of their defensive line, Brendan Sugrue of Bears Wire reports. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the Bears are signing undrafted free agent Jaylon Hutchings.
The former Texas Tech standout spent six years with the Red Raiders and had his best season in 2023. Hutchings totaled 44 tackles, 7.5 for a loss, 3.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 11 games. For his college career. Hutchings had 193 total tackles, 26 for a loss, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Hutchings went undrafted, partially due to suffering a torn meniscus in December. He's reportedly fully healthy, however, and recently had a workout with the Bears that went well enough to warrant a signing.
