Alvin Kamara left practice earlier this week with back tightness and has not yet returned — and New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen reiterated that is why his star running back has continued to be absent, Luke Johnson of NOLA.com reports.
When asked if any part of Kamara's recent absence is related to Kamara's contract dispute with the team, Allen shot that idea down.
"As far as I know, zero related (to his contract)," Allen said. "He's got some back tightness, this is something he's dealt with before."
Kamara skipped out on the final practice of minicamp this summer as a way of expressing his displeasure with his contract situation, but he showed up in time for training camp and has been a regular on the practice field despite the lack of progress toward a new deal.
Two years remain on Kamara's contract, but he is effectively playing on the final year this season.
