The Chicago Bears have been in the market for another edge rusher for quite some time. They finally landed one on Friday, Brendan Sugrue of Bears Wire reports.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Bears are acquiring Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Darrell Taylor in exchange for a sixth-round pick in next year's draft.

Taylor was selected by the Seahawks in the 2020 NFL Draft, but missed his rookie season due to having offseason surgery. When he took the field, though, Taylor showed why he was such a high draft pick. The former Volunteer totaled 6.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in 2021. His best season came in 2022, when he notched 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles for the Seahawks defense. For his career, Taylor has totaled 21.5 sacks.

The 27-year-old pass rusher now comes to the Bears as a key rotational piece, joining Montez Sweat, DeMarcus Walker, and Austin Booker. His arrival could also push players like Dominique Robinson, Jacob Martin, and Daniel Hardy off the final roster. The trade comes just over a week after Bears general manager Ryan Poles attempted to acquire Matthew Judon from the New England Patriots, who was sent to the Atlanta Falcons instead.
