Detroit Lions second-year cornerback Jeffrey Okudah underwent core muscle surgery on both sides after he was placed on injured reserve at the end of last season according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Okudah missed the final four games of his rookie season to repair a groin strain that had nagged him since his days at Ohio State but, according to Rapoport, decided to have surgery on both sides as a precaution.  Neither side should be an issue in 2021 and Okudah is expected to be ready for training camp.

Taken with the No.3-overall pick in the 2020 draft, Okudah was wildly inconsistent during his rookie season in Detroit, grading out as only the No.115 corner according to Pro Football Focus, and was sidelined for two games with a shoulder issue before ending up on injured reserve to undergo the core-muscle surgery. His sophomore season represents a fresh slate with a new coaching staff and a new defensive coordinator in Aaron Glenn.
