The New York Giants have fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett after Monday night's blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

The writing was on the wall after head coach Joe Judge pointed his finger directly at the coaching staff following the 30-10 debacle and pointedly refused for the first time to publicly back Garrett.  The Giants mustered a single touchdown against the Bucs-and that was the result of a tipped-pass interception deep in Buccaneers territory-even though most of their offensive starters including running back Saquon Barkley and left tackle Andrew Thomas.  The Daniel Jones-led New York offense was once again an embarrassment in the two minute drill, operating as if they had never prepared for situations that require offensive urgency. Garrett's offense -- the second worst in 2020 -- averages the tenth fewest yards per game and the eighth fewest points.  And Jones has made little progress under Garrett the past two seasons.

The Giants are expected to hand play calling duties to Freddie Kitchens, the former Browns head coach whose current job title with the Giants is senior offensive assistant.  Sitting at 3-7, this has been another lost season for the Giants and, barring a miraculous late season turnaround, it seems likely that Judge, the remainder of the coaching staff, and GM Dave Gettleman, will follow Garrett out the door in January.
