Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is denying a report that said offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn lost the playcalling duties beacause of a rift between quarterback and coordinator, Kyle Meinke of Mlive reports.

“Yeah, I was just told about that,” Goff said on Tuesday afternoon. “I don’t know where that came from. We have a great relationship. Me and him talk daily. I don’t know where that came from.”

Where it came from was CBS Sports, which cited multiple anonymous sources saying Goff and Lynn had a rocky working relationship. According to the report: “Lynn had a very difficult time connecting with starting quarterback Jared Goff, sources said, and that relationship never really clicked. The overall structure of the passing game, and game-day tendencies with playcalling has quickly become an issue for the winless Lions as well.”

According to the report, that’s the real reason head coach Dan Campbell took over the playcalling from Lynn two weeks ago. Campbell said he made the decision because he was looking to get more involved with the struggling offense amid an 0-8 start, and wanted more opportunities to speak with Goff during the game.

“I thought, hey, why not change it up a little bit here?” Campbell said. “And I wanted to be able to talk to (Jared Goff) in-game, and sometimes I think when you’re able to get in the flow of the game when you’re the guy who’s calling it, it just helps to know exactly where to go. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a big deal. There were still things I was giving to A. Lynn when he was calling it. It’s just now I took the green dot basically to Goff, so I can communicate with him. I’ll still grab some calls from them, I’ll use my own calls and so it’s a joint effort by all those guys.”
