The Pittsburgh Steelers have designated wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to return from injured reserve according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Smith-Schuster has been out since injuring his shoulder in the Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos and undergoing surgery.  Pittsburgh will now have a 21-day window to activate Smith-Schuster, who returned to practice Thursday, or keep him stashed on injured reserve. With the team's Wild Card matchup against Kansas City right around the corner, some would argue the Steelers have only a two-day window to activate JuJu. He'll continue practicing to close the week.

A second-round pick out of USC in 2017, JuJu had a monster year in 2018 with 111 catches for 1,426 yards and seven touchdown but has not come close to matching that level of production since.  He reportedly turned down several more lucrative offers to sign a one-year deal with the Steelers last spring and will once again be an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
