Despite rumors of a rift between the Steelers organization and their former franchise quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger has offered to help first-round rookie Kenny Pickett according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic.

Speaking to reporters at the Steelers rookie minicamp, Pickett told reporters Roethlisberger had called him to say he would welcome Pickett's call , if he needs anything or wants to bounce anything off Big Ben.  "He said he is always there for me if I have any questions or advice. He is an unbelievable player, a Hall of Famer. He is a guy who I will definitely use as a resource these coming weeks."

Interestingly enough, Peter King of NBC Sports reported the Monday after the draft that the starting QB of the Steelers never spoke to the University of Pittsburgh QB in the five years the two teams shared a facility.  “He never got the chance to talk ball with Ben Roethlisberger — which seems odd to me, to never chat with Roethlisberger in five years — but he did watch Steelers practice a lot.”

Big Ben, of course, has a lot more time on his hands now that he has officially retired from the NFL.  The call to Pickett may have just been a courtesy or it could be the start of a real mentoring relationship.  The Steelers likely hope it's the latter.
