The Baltimore Ravens have restructured the contract of tight end Nick Boyle according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Boyle's salary of $5 million was lowered to $1.12 million with a $2.63 million signing bonus, and an additional million of his 2023 salary was changed to a roster bonus. The move creates $2.56 million in cap space and could be a predecessor to a Ravens move for one of the remaining available free agent wideouts.

Originally a fifth-round pick out of Delaware in 2015, Boyle has spent his entire seven-year NFL career as a blocking tight end in Baltimore but has struggled with health the past two seasons.  He missed the second half of the 2020 season and spent the first 10 weeks on IR last year recovering from a knee injury that required two surgeries. The 29-year-old was never at full strength when returned, casting some doubt over his career.  Boyle is under contract through 2023 but his future could be cloudy considering that the Ravens spent two fourth-round picks on tight ends this year.
