Zach Wilson 'not concerned at all' about O-line issues vs. Steelers

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will face a lot of challenges Sunday, when he returns from a knee injury to make his regular-season debut against the Steelers.

But the greatest challenge of all might be dealing with the pass-rushing pressure that is sure to come his way given the current state of the Jets’ offensive line.

The Jets’ will likely be starting two offensive tackles who before training camp were projected to be backups or third stringers: rookie Max Mitchell on the right side and veteran Conor McDermott on the left.

Wilson said the right thing when asked about the situation, Andy Vasquez of NJ Advance Media reports.

“I’m not concerned at all,” the second-year quarterback said. “We’ve got some great players up front. Those guys are going to do their best. And it’s just one more opportunity for somebody to keep stepping up at whatever positions guys are at. I’m excited.”

But the Jets coaching staff should be concerned and design a game plan that is going to get the ball out of Wilson’s hand quickly, because the last thing the Jets need right now is for their young quarterback to be taking hit after hit in his first game back from an injury.
