The Detroit Lions are surging, and especially their defense. But they got just three days to prepare for one of the best quarterbacks on the planet, and they’ll have to do so without their best cornerback, Kyle Meinke of Mlive reports.

Jeff Okudah suffered a suspected brain injury in the 31-18 win on Sunday against the New York Giants, and has already been ruled out for the Thanksgiving game against Josh Allen the Buffalo Bills.

“Yeah, he’ll be out,” head coach Dan Campbell said. “I mean, I can’t imagine. I’m pretty sure. We just talked about it. I don’t think there’s any way possible he could play.”

Okudah suffered the injury when he collided with teammate Will Harris in the first half of the game, at least the third time he’s been involved in friendly fire this season. He also collided with Julian Okwara and Kerby Joseph, sending both players to the sideline in recent weeks.

This time, Okudah took the brunt of the impact. He spent several minutes being examined in the medical tent on the sideline before eventually putting on a trenchcoat and getting escorted by a team doctor to the locker room. He was ruled out moments later. And with the short week until Thanksgiving, he simply does not have enough time to clear protocol no matter how quickly he progresses.
