The Patriots signed left-footed punter Corliss Waitman on Thursday afternoon to fill the vacancy Bailey left, Chris Mason of Masslive reports. Waitman was given an exclusive rights free agent tender from the Broncos earlier this offseason, but Denver withdrew on Tuesday after inking Riley Dixon.

It didn’t take Belichick long to jump at the opening; 48 hours after becoming a free agent, Waitman is a Patriot.

An undrafted free agent in 2020, Waitman has punted for both the Steelers and Broncos, and spent time on the Patriots practice squad in 2021. Last season in Denver, he punted a league-high 96 times, averaging 46.6 yards per punt and netting 41.4. He placed 30 punts inside the 20-yard line and registered six touchbacks.
