Could the Jets be in the mix for likely soon-to-be-released running back Dalvin Cook? A recent report from the Minnesota area seems to think so, Billy Riccette of USA Today's Jets Wire reports.
According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP in Minneapolis, the Jets are “definitely interested” in Cook, who is set to be released Friday if the Vikings are unable to find a trade partner.
Breece Hall is hopeful for Week 1 and the Jets have Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and rookie Israel Abanikanda behind Carter. Wolfson believes the Jets can use an upgrade at the position, citing the “enormous expectations” the Jets have this season with Aaron Rodgers.
At the very least, the Jets will have competition within their division for Cooks’ services in the form of the Miami Dolphins. They and the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, are expected to be in the mix for Cook when he is released.
