Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins is known in town for his charity work and fun disposition.

But during a physical battle against the New York Jets on Sunday, Dawkins showed his tough side helping the Bills dominate a Jets defensive line that’s used to doing the dominating.

Buffalo’s offense scored 32 points on the Jets - the most of any team this season and most since 2021.

Dawkins was penalized for unnecessary roughness on a play where he blocked Jets defensive end Michael Clemons to the ground and then jumped on him to end the play. The two were captured on video in the tunnel of Highmark Stadium after the game arguing outside of the Bills’ locker room. They needed to be separated by team staff members and teammates.

Dawkins explained at his locker after the game why he isn’t a fan of the Jets, Matt Parrino of New York Upstate reports.

“I’m a humble guy,” he said. “I’m not a fan of the Jets. Very disrespectful players. It’s what it is and when we could run and pass and beat a team like that - cool. Thumbs up. ... (It’s) Guys playing with a lot of emotion and a lot of physicality. But just a lot of BS and a lot of BS, those guys. It’s what it is.”

The Bills gave up a sack on the opening drive but shut down the Jets’ prolific defensive line for the rest of the game. New York finished with just one sack and four quarterback hits.

Jets defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton spent three seasons with the Bills as an assistant coach, overlapping with Dawkins, who was drafted in 2017. The Bills’ left tackle included Whitecotton in his assessment of the Jets’ behavior.

“It’s probably anger, a little bit of - a lot of bit of emotions,” he said. “There’s a lot of emotional guys over there. Very emotional guys, like even their d-line coach, very emotional. Unmanly. Just very emotional guys.”
