The New England Patriots are undergoing some major changes in their first year since parting ways with Bill Belichick, Nick O'Malley of Masslive reports. On Tuesday, the team revealed how much the front office will change in the first year of Eliot Wolf running the show.
With training camp a week away, the Patriots officially announced five new hires to the personnel staff along with five internal promotions.
The new hires include senior personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith, area scout Casey Belongia, pro scout Bob Kronenberg and a pair of scouting assistants in A.J. Richardson and Landon Simpson.
The internal promotions include Patrick Stewart moving to director of pro personnel and Sam Fioroni becoming the new assistant director of pro personnel. Marshall Oium is now the director of football strategy while Maquis Dickerson has moved up to a pro scout role.
The most notable outside hire is the introduction of Highsmith, who previously served as the general manager of football operations at the University of Miami for two seasons.
Notable internal promotions include Stewart moving to director of pro personnel. The position was previously held by Steve Cargile, who left this offseason to work under former Patriots exec Nick Caserio with the Houston Texans.
The moves are part of a new-look front office under Wolf, the team’s new vice president of player personnel.
