Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love wants to help running back Josh Jacobs avoid what would be an undesirable NFL record during the 2024 season, Zach Kruse of USA Today's Packers Wire reports. .
Jacobs currently has 197 career receptions without a receiving touchdown. If he catches five more passes without scoring a receiving touchdown, he’d break the NFL record for career receptions without a touchdown.
In an AMA video at Bleacher Report, Love said he’s aware of the potential record and set on making sure Jacobs doesn’t get it.
“No, that’s not going to happen,” Love said. “I saw that the other day. I’m surprised he doesn’t have any touchdowns yet. Let’s see, 197 career receptions, zero receiving touchdowns. I sent that to him, I said, “Bro, we’re going to get you a touchdown, for sure.’ First pass to him might be a touchdown, who knows. Five receptions away from it? We’ll make sure he gets a touchdown in there.”
Former NFL running back Gerald Riggs currently holds the record at 201 catches without a receiving touchdown. As it stands currently, the only players in NFL history with 150 or more catches and zero receiving touchdowns are Riggs and Jacobs. And only seven players in history have 100 or more catches and zero receiving scores.
