Running back Rashaad Penny has announced his retirement after six seasons in the NFL according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

A highly productive back out of San Diego State, Penny battled constant injuries during five seasons with the Seahawks. He finally emerged as an explosive lead back in the second half of the 2021 season, rushing for 672 yards and six scores in the season’s final six games.

Penny rarely saw the ball during a forgettable 2023 season with the Eagles and then signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.  Now 28 years old, he likely didn't like his chances on the depth chart and has chosen to step away.  The Panthers will carry on with Chuba Hubbard, rookie Jonathon Brooks, and Miles Sanders.
