John Cominsky enjoyed a career season in Detroit in 2022. He was determined to re-sign with the team last season, then took a pay cut to return again this season. That guy wants to be here.
Now, he might not be seen until the playoffs, Kyle Meinke of Mlive reports.
The versatile defensive lineman tore his MCL on Tuesday and is out indefinitely, according to ESPN. He could “possibly” return for the playoffs, according to the report.
Cominsky suffered the injury when he was rolled up on early in practice. He initially tried to walk off the injury before falling back to the ground. He was evaluated by medical personnel on the field for several minutes before being carted to the locker room.
Cominsky played in all 19 games last season and made 14 starts, although his production was down across the board from his breakout season in 2022. He finished with 43 tackles and two sacks, and was forced to take a pay cut to return this season. Now, it’s unknown when -- or possibly if -- he’ll play at all.
