The Miami Dolphins have released veteran quarterback Mike White according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The release of White means 2022 seventh-rounder Skylar Thompson has won the job as Tua Tagovailoa’s backup to start the season. White threw for 179 scoreless yards this preseason while completing a dismal 46.5 percent of his passes.
A seven-year veteran of the league, White has thrown for 2,219 yards, nine touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 14 career games. He’s a serviceable backup who will likely get a shot elsewhere before the start of next season and could still be brought back as Miami’s emergency quarterback given his familiarity with the system.
