Pittsburgh Steelers punter Cameron Johnson is out for the year according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Johnston was carted off the field Sunday against the Falcons. An ACL tear was confirmed on Monday and he will miss the remainder of the season. It’s a blow for the Steelers special teams, as Johnston held for kicker Chris Boswell.
Johnston, 32, signed a three-year deal with the Steelers in March. He averaged 51.5 yards on his two punts before having to exit the contest. Finding a new punter is essential before next weekend as Pittsburgh does not have an extra punter or kicker on their practice squad.
