Despite being named in a new sexual assault lawsuit this week, the Cleveland Browns are still rolling out quarterback Deshaun Watson as their starting quarterback against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cory Kinnan of Browns Wire reports.
During his Wednesday press conference, head coach Kevin Stefanski declined to say much on the newest lawsuit other than to echo the statement already released by the team. However, Stefanski did state that the Browns are still starting Watson on Sunday.
There are two parts to this: if Watson has weekly distractions that keep him from focusing on football that we continue to give him a pass on as to why he is not playing well, then when is he ever going to be able to focus on football? The second part of this equation: Watson was bad against Dallas, and has been bad for the majority of the games he has started in a Browns uniform.
Taking the new lawsuit out of the equation, which isn’t even possible in the first place given the gravity of the allegation, at what point do the Browns pull the plug on Watson based solely on the quality of his play between the lines?
