Moments after throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles on national television, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins still wasn’t satisfied with his performance, Matt Urben of Falcons Wire reports.
“I still am not sharp enough,” Cousins told ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters as he walked off the field following Monday night’s 22-21 victory. “I didn’t feel like I was sharp enough today, accurate enough. I’ve got to be better, but that last drive, hopefully, can give us a boost going into next week. We can build on that. I was pleased with the way we finished tonight but there’s so much we can be better with.”
Cousins didn’t always appear comfortable in the pocket, but he was pretty sharp in the second half. The 13-year NFL veteran completed 13 of 16 passes for 166 passing yards and two touchdowns over the final two quarters. When the Falcons needed their $100 million quarterback to show up, he played his best football of the season.
