Justin Jefferson not sweating matchup vs. Jaire Alexander: 'He cares more'

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson said Thursday that he's excited to face the Green Bay Packers in Week 4 at Lambeau Field but isn't too concerned about going up against cornerback Jaire Alexander, Caio Miari of theScore reports.

"He likes to do that stuff to get inside someone's head," Jefferson said, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "I'm not really tripping on that. I'm going to just get my Griddy in his end zone. So, I'm not tripping on it at all. I'm excited for the matchup."

Not only are Jefferson and Alexander division rivals, but they're also among the NFL's best players at their respective positions. They didn't face each other in 2023, as the wideout was injured in their first matchup and the corner was suspended for the second clash. Their teams split their season series last year.

"I didn't really care if he played or not," Jefferson added. "Last year ... during that time we were fighting to get back into the playoffs and to make our run. That's something that I was looking forward to. I really don't care about the matchup, honestly. I feel like he cares more of it than I do."

Alexander mocked Jefferson by doing the pass-catcher's signature touchdown dance after forcing an incompletion the last time they faced each other in 2022.

"I understand that he has some help over the top sometimes and he likes to do the jump jam and likes to put hands on to disrupt the route, but we have a plan for it. I can't wait to go up against it, honestly," Jefferson said.
