The Kansas City Chiefs have activated running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire from their Reserve/NFI (non-football injury) list to their 53-man roster, John Dixon of Arrowhead Pride reports.

Two weeks ago, the team designated the fifth-year running back for return from Reserve/NFI, opening a 21-day window in which he could practice with the team without being on the active roster.

Kansas City originally put Edwards-Helaire on the Reserve/NFI list before the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. Before then, he had missed training camp practices with what the team described as an “illness.”

In August, Edwards-Helaire told reporters he was experiencing PTSD (post-traumatic stress syndrome) stemming from an incident that took place while he was at LSU, during which he and a teammate killed someone who was attempting to rob them.

The Chiefs had an open spot on its active roster, so no corresponding move was required to activate Edwards-Healire. The team now has a full complement of 53 players on its active roster, plus 17 more on its practice squad. (The team is permitted an extra practice squad player because offensive lineman Chu Godrick joined the team through the International Player Pathway program). We now estimate that the team has $3.6 million in cap space.
