The Lions reached out to the New York Jets about a trade for the disgruntled Haason Reddick as Detroit continues to look for a veteran pass-rusher after losing Aidan Hutchinson to injury, Caio Miari of theScore reports.  This acording to Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano of ESPN who cite sources.

Reddick, whose contract expires at the end of the 2024 season, joined the Jets this year as part of an offseason trade from the Philadelphia Eagles but has yet to play for New York, as the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement on an extension. The 30-year-old skipped the team's offseason program and the first six games of the regular season.

The Jets recently gave Reddick and his new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, permission to seek a trade, though team owner Woody Johnson hopes Rosenhaus can convince the veteran defender to rejoin the club.

Multiple teams believe New York has no choice but to cut ties with Reddick, according to Fowler and Graziano.

Reddick topped double-digit sacks in each year from 2020-23, during which time he earned two Pro Bowl berths. He set a career high with 16 sacks in 2022.

The Lions have been linked to multiple veteran pass-rushers since Hutchinson underwent surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula. He sustained the injury during Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys.

"Look, we're open to anything," Lions head coach Campbell said Wednesday, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra. "(General manager) Brad (Holmes) has been working through it. We are not going to be in a hurry."
