In an update to our previous story, Raiders second-year quarterback Aidan O'Connell will be placed on injured reserve after breaking his thumb in the team's shellacking by the Los Angeles Rams according to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. of NFL Network.

As a result, the 26-year-old will miss at least the next four games. O’Connell began the year as Vegas’ backup, but veteran free agent addition Gardner Minshew did not live up to expectations. That led to the Raiders’ QB competition re-starting midway through the campaign, with O’Connell taking over in Week 6.

O'Connell will seek a second opinion on his diagnosis.  Minshew was horrific after taking over Sunday, tossing three interceptions and losing a fumble that was returned for a Rams defensive touchdown.  Quite frankly, neither of these guys are good enough to be starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
