Quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants the New York Jets fan base to remain optimistic amid a 2-6 start to the season, Brenden Deeg of theScore reports.

"Smile, show up, trust, believe, root us on as hard as you can. We need that noise," Rodgers said, adding, "We're trying to rectify this as quickly as possible. I know it's been frustrating for everybody, but there's still a lot of season left."

After Sunday's 25-22 loss to the New England Patriots, the Jets are off to their worst start through eight games since they went 4-13 in 2021.

In Week 8, New York became the first team since 2012 to lose a game in which it held the opponent to under 250 yards and didn't turn the ball over, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

The Jets' offense hasn't lived up to expectations after many additions to the unit, including a trade for star wideout Davante Adams. The club ranks 24th in yards per game and 25th in points per contest.

Rodgers, 40, currently sits 22nd in QBR among 30 qualifying quarterbacks in 2024. New England Patriots defensive lineman Davon Godchaux said after Sunday's game that Rodgers "don't look the same" and "doesn't look mobile at all."

Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich was asked about Godchaux's comments earlier this week.

"I don't know if it's a concern, but he's not 100% from a health standpoint," Ulbrich said, per Paul Andrew Esden Jr. of The Score 1260.
