One of the Tennessee Titans' biggest and most important offseason acquisitions likely won't be a part of the team's run through the second half of the season, Nick Suss of the Tennessean reports.
The Titans expect veteran center Lloyd Cushenberry III to miss the rest of the season with what appears to be an injury to his Achilles tendon, a source said on Sunday. Further testing will be conducted Monday, but the source said the Titans athletic trainers and team doctors felt fairly certain that this was the injury Cushenberry was dealing with.
Cushenberry, who's in his first season with the Titans after playing his first four seasons in Denver, exited Sunday's 20-17 overtime win over New England in the third quarter with what was described at the time as an ankle injury. He limped off the field and to the locker room under his own power, was quickly ruled out and did not return.
He was replaced by veteran Corey Levin, who had been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Daniel Brunskill spent most of the offseason as Cushenberry's backup, but Brunskill started at right guard Sunday in the absence of regular starter Dillon Radunz.
