Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen announced Monday that he will be sticking with Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback for Week 10, Brenden Deeg of theScore. this according to Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan.
Steichen told reporters Sunday night after the team's loss to the Minnesota Vikings that Flacco still gives them the best chance to win "right now."
Flacco was named the starting signal-caller last week after the club benched 2023 fourth overall pick Anthony Richardson. The veteran completed 16 of 27 passes on Sunday night for 179 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception.
The Colts' offense struggled to move the ball all game, totaling 227 yards with only six points. Indianapolis' lone touchdown came on defense after Kenny Moore returned a strip sack for a score. Indianapolis averaged minus-0.35 EPA/play on offense, its worst mark in a game this season, according to Mina Kimes of ESPN.
"He was fine," Steichen said when asked how Flacco played against the Vikings. "He's been playing in environments like this before ... It starts with myself as the head coach."
He added: "I've got to keep looking at what we're doing offensively. We've got eight (games) left, we're halfway through the year now, and just look at scheme stuff and what we're doing and go from there."
