The Indianapolis Colts declined to make quarterback Anthony Richardson available for trade before Tuesday's deadline despite interest from multiple teams, Matthew Washington of theScore reports. This according to ESPN's Stephen Holder who cites a source.

The 2023 fourth overall pick was benched last week in favor of Joe Flacco. Head coach Shane Steichen said Flacco would remain Indianapolis' starting quarterback going forward because he gives the team a better chance to win.

Despite benching Richardson after 10 career starts, the Colts have been adamant that they still have confidence in the 22-year-old.

"Not giving up on Anthony by any means," Steichen said last week. "He's a really young player with a ton of talent."

There's internal belief that the 6-foot-4, 244-pound quarterback can reclaim the starting role this season or in the future, per Holder.

The Florida product has passed for 958 yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions in six starts, completing 44.4% of his pass attempts. Richardson has also rushed for 242 yards.
