Buccaneers head coach told the media Monday that safety Antoine Winfield Jr. has a sprained knee and will miss “a couple of games”according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
The Bucs will have a decision to make when it comes to Winfield’s availability for the remainder of the season. With short-term IR no longer an option this late into the year, the team will likely leave him on the roster in hopes he can return for their playoff push before season’s end.
Winfield exited in the first half of Sunday’s win over the Raiders and did not return to the game. The star safety has appeared in just nine games this year due to injuries, totaling 60 tackles three pass breakups, two sacks, and one fumble recovery.
