Saints quarterback Derek Carr suffered “a significant fracture in his non-throwing hand” in Week 14’s win over the Giants according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
According to Rapoport, Carr is “expected to miss several weeks,” which likely makes this a season-ender for the 33-year-old quarterback. However, the team is debating whether or not to place Carr on IR or leave “the window of opportunity open” — for some reason.
Carr has thrown for 2145-15-5 this season, going 5-5 in the 10 starts he’s made this season, and is under contract through 2026. Regardless of what the Saints say, it’d be surprising if we saw Carr under center again in 2024.
