Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs has cartilage damage in his left knee that will require a bone graft surgery according to Clarence Hill of alldlls.com.

The surgery requires a longer recovery time.

The Cowboys already anticipated Diggs would miss the start of the 2025 season. The rehab now will be even longer.

“I hope it’s definitely sooner,” coach Mike McCarthy said Friday. “But this is a big recovery for Trevon. It’s way too early for me to speculate on that.”

Diggs will have bone tissue transplanted into his knee to repair damaged bones to stimulate growth and strengthen the area.

It’s the same knee that needed surgery early last season to repair a torn ACL, which kept him out 14 games in 2023.

He played 10 games this season despite groin and ankle injuries and the cartilage issue in his knee.

His base salary of $9 million for 2025 is guaranteed for injury.
