The Dallas Cowboys and head coach Mike McCarthy haven't engaged in serious contract extension talks, Andrew Dixon of theScore reports. This according to Josh Tolentino of Lone Star Live who cites sources.
McCarthy and the team's front office are open to an extension but haven't made substantial ground in signing a new deal since they began evaluation talks, Tolentino reports.
It was reported Friday that the sides were expected to begin negotiating a new deal. The Cowboys are the lone team that can negotiate with McCarthy until Tuesday. He'll be free to interview and negotiate with other teams Wednesday.
McCarthy has posted a 49-35 mark in five seasons with the Cowboys. The 61-year-old owns a 174-112-2 record as a head coach including his nearly 13 years with the Green Bay Packers.
